Sturbridge Old Navy surprises shoppers with closing

June 27, 2012
STURBRIDGE — Customers who came into the Old Navy at the Center at Hobbs Brook on Monday, June 25, were shocked to learn that the store would be closing its doors at the end of the day — for good.

Kimco Realty Group, the landlord of the building that houses Old Navy (100 Charlton Road), recently released a statement indicating that it would not renew the lease. While Old Navy staff members are disappointed about the decision, they are thankful for the support they received from customers on their final day.

"We really appreciate all the well wishes that the customers are coming in and calling to give us," said store manager Donald Gorczynski. "Everyone appreciated the great service they received from our store, and we appreciate them expressing that gratitude."
