SOUTHBRIDGE — One candidate for this year's Town Council race is hoping Southbridge residents feel like going back to the future.

Former long-time Councilor Steven Lazo, who served 11 years until coming in last in the 2011 balloting, thinks sitting out a year might actually have been good for him. After a long time in town government, he admits, "You kind of lose the fact of why you're there" and hopes the voters see fit to give him a second chance.

Lazo faces an uphill climb, since he's got six opponents for three Council seats. Besides incumbents Denise Clemence and Larry Spinelli, the June 26 candidates are teacher Shaun Moriarty, web designer Amelia Peloquin, information tech specialist Dennis Martinek, and unemployed restaurant manager Jean Heid.
