Library aims to fix 'baffling' problem

$90K approved to fix ongoing structural issues

SOUTHBRIDGE — It didn't get much discussion when it passed unanimously at the Town Council meeting Monday, June 4, but the proposal to allocate $90,000 to fix Jacob Edwards Library is likely to be a fairly big deal.

That's because, according to Library Director Margaret Morrissey and DPW Director Thomas Daley, the problems it seeks to solve have defied previous attempts over the last decade.

"It's way too early [to talk in detail]," Daley said. "We've had some preliminary thought, but we'll hire an expert, a forensic person, to tell us what the cause is, because it's baffling."
