BRIMFIELD — Those of us who are lucky enough to live outside the June 1, 2011 tornado's path have experienced vicarious misery in the last year.

It's been distressing for us to see people's homes ruined and lives turned upside down, but at the end of the day we could always return to our untarnished neighborhoods and sit beneath the shade of our favorite trees.

That hasn't been the case for residents whose properties were devastated by the EF3 twister. Despite the countless stories that have been told, it's impossible to truly understand what tornado survivors have gone through, people like Ron and Linda Weston, the owners of Hollow Brook Farms. Ever since experiencing that first shocking glimpse of the tornado's wrath, it has been an uphill battle for them.
