CHARLTON — Among a group of college students who were recently honored at the State House for the "29 Who Shine" awards was Charlton's own Ryan Meersman.

The 22-year-old, who last month earned his bachelor's degree from Westfield State College, was chosen as one of just 29 outstanding public college and university graduates — one from each community college, state university and UMass in the state — for their academic achievement and community service.

Meersman was honored Thursday, May 10, at a reception attended by state education officials, campus presidents, and of course, his proud parents, Scott and Mary.
