Farming seen as 'one of the more promising areas' for economic development

SOUTHBRIDGE — Years ago, our ancestors knew farming was a viable career path.

Today, that may well be coming around again.

Speaking at the Host Hotel's "Sharing Skills" conference last week, Alexandra Risley Schroeder of the Mass. Workforce Alliance made a case for "food, water and shelter" being a crucial source of jobs in our area in coming years. But she notes this requires a very different approach to job creation than what's become traditional.
