DCEF planting seeds of opportunity in district

May 14, 2012
After months of slashing the budget and axing staff, the Dudley-Charlton Regional School Committee was overdue for the good news that came at their recent meeting.

Members of the Dudley-Charlton Education Foundation (DCEF) and district teachers presented to the School Committee how the organization's grant funding has closed the gap between what educators need for creative teaching and what they are actually allotted.

In just this school year, the DCEF, a non-profit established in 2008 to fund supplements to the district's curriculum, awarded more than $12,000 in grants to schools in Dudley and Charlton, and over four grant cycles have awarded nearly $45,000 in grants.
