CHARLTON — It was News Year's Day when Army Staff Sergeant Jason Kopp hoisted two American flags over his base in Afghanistan.

The flags flew in a hostile area, over the Khost Province base where he was stationed, just on the border of eastern Pakistan, before he took them down and tucked them his backpack.

Four months and about 7,000 miles later, those flags now have a home right here in Charlton.
