Book proceeds to benefit tornado recovery efforts

Residents and volunteers have employed many strategies in the last 11 months to raise thousands of dollars to benefit tornado recovery efforts.

One of the more creative and ambitious projects belonged to author and artist Jean Carruthers, of Holland.

After capturing much of the devastation caused by the June 1 tornado in her book, "The 39-Mile Path of Destruction," Carruthers is now using the money she received from purchases of the book to assist people who were affected by the tornado.
