SOUTHBRIDGE — The Town Council honored a group of firefighters Monday, April 23, for saving three lives in separate incidents last year.

"I wouldn't be standing here tonight if it weren't for these great guys," said Robert Dumas. "I exercise all the time. It's nothing, and the next step I was out. I woke up a week later in the hospital."

Dumas had been out running along Eastford Road July 13, 2011, when he simply collapsed. Moments later, he found out afterward, Officer Richard Reddick arrived on the scene and started CPR until the ambulance crew arrived, shocked his heart back into rhythm, and took him to Harrington Hospital.
