SOUTHBRIDGE — A few dozen volunteers clad in "Operation Tree Party" T-shirts, other community members, and Department of Conservation and Recreation staff worked with residents of the tornado-damaged neighborhoods to put a new generation of public shade trees in place along the roads in front of affected houses along Pleasant, Worcester and Charlton streets, Brookside Road, and Denfield Road in Charlton on Saturday, April 21.

Pictured, homeowner Barbara Dupuis, right, takes the twine off a new tree as George Thompson and Seth Dziengeleski dig its hole.
