Local cleanup projects abound on Earth Day

March 28, 2012
Residents are encouraged to celebrate Earth Day this year by volunteering at one of several area trail projects or by helping to plant trees in areas that desperately need them.

Youth groups, families, and service organizations are all asked to take part in a project on Saturday, April 21. In Sturbridge, trail locator posts need to be installed at the Heins Farm property; locators will me marked with a specific number — much like a street address — that can be referenced if there is an emergency on the trail. In addition, tractors and rakes are needed to spread fine gravel and clear debris from the Arbutus Park Trail. Help is also needed to demolish and remove two old trail bridges.
