SOUTHBRIDGE — A man who was punched in the face during a poker tournament at the Southbridge Veterans of Foreign Wars post earlier this month has died.

Timothy Connolly, spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., said Monday, March 26 Daniel McDonald had died. He did not say when the 45-year-old McDonald succumbed to his injuries.

"The DA's office is continuing to investigate," Connolly wrote in an email. "No decision has been made about changing the charge" against James Walsh, 38, of 56 Shepard Road in Sturbridge, the man accused of punching McDonald.
