Schools seeking $1.3 million hike

Public hearing on FY13 budget is Wednesday

March 19, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — Town citizens will get a chance to comment on next year's $24.5 million school budget proposal Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., just before the School Committee formally votes on it.

It includes funding for a wide range of new concepts and positions, including bringing foreign languages down to the elementary schools, implementing the greatly-expanded technology the new middle/high school has, coordinating public use of that building, having paraprofessionals for various purposes, sharing the cost of restoring the resource officer with the Police Department, adding custodians and new work experience programs, and other things.
