Students make a case for change at high school

'Help us in fixing these broken aspects'

March 15, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — You know you have a pretty clear direction for change in a school system when the students and teachers agree on the four big areas that need work — the rules, schedule, class size and teacher attitudes.

That was the key finding of a student-led research project at the high school, which surveyed 101 students and 25 teachers to reach that conclusion. The two groups ordered them differently, and the students added one concern (teaching methods and goals) while the faculty added two (student attitudes and leveling).
