Tornado destroyed auto body shop nearly resurrected

STURBRIDGE — Our latest segment of Operation Rebuild crosses county lines from Brimfield to Sturbridge, where construction efforts of a new Sturbridge Auto Body building are nearing completion.

Owner Mark Manthorne predicts the work will be finished in about a month, as there are only a few more projects that still need to be completed. The previous building was heavily damaged by the June 1 tornado — as was one of Manthorne's tow trucks — costing the business thousands of dollars in lost work opportunities. Manthorne saw the EF3 twister approaching his building on the afternoon of June 1, and less than a minute later the building was torn apart.
