State urging revamp of development rules

Although quite a few towns already do it in some form, the state is hoping to convince them to revamp their subdivision rules to even more strongly favor land conservation.

"Technology has totally changed how we interact with the environment," Celia Riechel told the state conservation conference March 3. "If you think you're too far from Boston [to be affected by sprawl], you're not. No community is safe from the outward pressure of urban areas."
