Dry conditions prompt fire warnings from officials

'People really should be extra-cautious' about fires

March 01, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — Got drought?

Well, technically not yet, but fire officials and others are concerned our area is heading that way if we don't get more precipitation than just this week's snow and rain.

"I don't think, in my 10 years here, we've had conditions this dry," said Acting Fire Chief Mark DiFronzo. "People really should be extra-cautious with lighting any kind of outside fire."
