SOUTHBRIDGE — Several dozen people donned hardhats and yellow vests to tour the ongoing middle/high school construction project Friday, Feb. 17.

"It's been a long project. We've paid a lot of attention to it, and so far, it's on time and budget," said Town Manager Christopher Clark.

Specifically, that means a lot of the rooms now look like classrooms, walls have some of their tiling, most of the sports fields are done and ready to be lit, the auditorium has its acoustic "clouds" and is ready for seats, and the gym has basketball hoops and a scoreboard. But evidence abounds of the work to be done — nothing has furniture, some of the walls are still little more than steel framework, the rubber floor layers aren't down yet, and hallways are loaded with piles of material.
