STURBRIDGE — The relationship between the Tantasqua Regional School Committee and Sturbridge selectmen has been strained since controversy erupted over the candidate appointment process during the summer.

On Monday, Feb. 6, selectmen met with three Sturbridge members of the school committee to discuss a Sept. 7 memorandum from Superintendent Daniel Durgin requesting that all member towns of the regional school district place an article on the next town meeting warrant that calls for a joint appointment of candidates to the school committee by selectmen from the town in which a vacancy is open and school committee members from that town.
