Weekend cases highlight domestic violence

February 07, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — Southbridge Police spent a fair amount of time last weekend dealing with something much more common and insidious — domestic violence.

The logs make passing references to several routine calls for emergency and other restraining orders and domestic disputes that ended peacefully, but what stands out are the unrelated arrests of Felix Maldonado, of 15 Union St., and Miguel Garcia, of 114 Pine St., a few hours apart on Sunday, Feb. 5.

Both men pled not guilty at their arraignments Monday at Dudley District Court. They both face charges of domestic assault and battery (two counts in Garcia's case); Maldonado was also charged with indecent assault on someone over age 14, while Garcia also faces an assault with a knife charge.
