Durant calls for investigation into funding of nonprofit

'If we don't do anything about it now it will get lost in the shuffle'

When the sky-high salaries of several employees of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservatory became a hot button issue last month, State Rep. Peter Durant was behind calls for an investigation into the state's funding of the agency.

The Conservancy, a nonprofit that oversees state-owned parks in Boston such as the Common, Public Garden, and Emerald Necklace, is funded both privately and through the state. The agency first came under fire last month when it's executive director Nancy Brennan dodged requests from the Boston Herald to reveal executives' salaries before mistakenly sending an email to the newspaper exposing their six-figure salaries.
