Town seeking to consolidate HR duties

Police chief: 'It's bitten us several times'

SOUTHBRIDGE — In light of recent problems around hiring a couple of police officers, the town has started looking into cleaning up and consolidating its overall hiring, background check and human resources process.

"I really think we should do it across the board … [and] bring the education side into it," said Police Chief Daniel Charette, noting many town jobs "have very serious concerns about who we're putting in [them]."

"[If we] look back a little bit, it's bitten us several times," he added later.
