Charter changes filed in Legislature

Public hearing in Boston to be slated for H. 3900

January 29, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — A month after it was originally expected, and three months after the Town Council approved it, the packet of proposed changes to the charter has actually made it to the Legislature's docket.

According to State Rep. Peter Durant, he and Sen. Richard Moore co-filed it as House bill 3900 under the state's Home Rule amendment Thursday. That came after the Attorney General's office and Department of Housing and Community Development "said it was fine," he added.

Nobody is yet sure when it will actually come up for a public hearing; that will be up to the Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government, which hasn't yet published a schedule on its website.
