Assailants charged in two armed attacks

January 26, 2012
SOUTHBRIDGE — Two unrelated cases involving allegations that Southbridge people tried to use violence to solve conflicts with others have recently begun weaving their way through Dudley District Court.

The most recent of these occurred shortly after 2 a.m. last Saturday, Jan. 21, when police arrested Jorge Gomez, 23, at his 171 Mechanic St. home after the alleged victim called 911 while bleeding on the sidewalk. When they arrived, they found Matthew McNamara was still conscious and willing to talk despite having "no less than five puncture wounds" to his chest. He was taken to UMass Medical Center, Worcester, but doctors determined his wounds were not life threatening.
