SOUTHBRIDGE — For decades, Jeff Tasse's family has been in the oil business, but the rapid rise in prices in recent years has been prompting a lot of thought.

This week, people driving by his Hook Street building could see the results of that process, as several men on Tasse's roof installed an array of solar panels. Not only will they provide the firm some of its everyday energy, they also represent an investment in an expansion of its business into alternative energy (it has already been doing oil efficiency refits and biofuel).

"We've always been interested in energy savings," for both the firm itself and its customers, Tasse said. "Everything we're doing right now is specifically related to reducing customer costs."
