Movie theater talks gaining momentum

'This looks like a great project for our town'

January 18, 2012
STURBRIDGE — The winds of change seem to be gathering strength in town.

Plans for a new movie theater at the Center at Hobbs Brook are gaining momentum, and town officials have recently spent a lot of time discussing the proposed redevelopment plan for the Basketville Building.

The redevelopment proposal — which will go before the Planning Board for site plan review on Tuesday, Jan. 24 — includes adding a 50-seat restaurant on the first floor, as well as three dental offices and an additional professional office on the second floor. The building is located at 413-419 Main St.
