January 12, 2012 SOUTHBRIDGE — By a 5-2 vote, the School Committee Tuesday night approved reorganizing the elementary schools for this fall, at the same time the new middle/high school opens.
The new structure will keep the same three buildings, but rearrange the grades within them. Eastford Road School will become an Early Childhood Center serving pre-school, kindergarten and a "readiness first grade" class, while West and Charlton Street Schools will both serve grades 1-5.
"It's not rocket science. It's just logistics," said Superintendent Eric Ely. "... You [just] tell us when you want us to do it."
