CHARLTON — In the days of slashed budgets and staff cuts, it's organizations like the Dudley Charlton Education Foundation (DCEF) that seek to close the gap between what educators need for teaching and what resources they are actually allotted.

In just about three years, the DCEF, a nonprofit that raises money to fund unique educational programs for students throughout the district's seven schools, has raised nearly $40,000.

It's an astounding number to be sure, but according to Dudley-Charlton Regional School District superintendent Sean Gilrein, it's not even the organization's most impressive feat.
