STURBRIDGE — There has been a lot of good news surrounding the major expansion and renovation project at Burgess Elementary School.

A recent analysis predicts that the project will be completed on time in the spring of 2013. Even more impressive, the project is expected to finish 28.5 percent below the original $46.7 million total that voters authorized.

School Building Committee leaders announced last week that the decreased project total is $33,364,697, including a $1 million contingency, some of which will not likely be spent. These numbers are a testament to everyone involved in the planning of the project and Fontaine Brothers Construction, of Springfield, which has overseen the construction, according to project officials.
