STURBRIDGE — Faye Rhault, an eighth grader at Tantasqua Regional Junior High School, became the first student from her school to win Sen. Stephen Brewer's annual holiday card contest.

Rhault's card was selected for the top prize out of 1,300 entries from area middle school students for the 15th annual contest, and it will be sent to 6,000 people on Brewer's Christmas card list. Rhault also received some prizes for her accomplishment, including a $100 savings bond and a pizza party for her classmates.

"We have had a few runner-ups and third place finishers for this contest over the years, but none of our students has never won first prize," said Superintendent Daniel Durgin. "We are very proud of Faye. She is a very talented student and an all-around great kid."

Rhault recently met with Brewer to eat lunch with the senator and pose for a photo with school officials. Her art classmates in Carol Willard's class were also very proud of her, especially after they were included in the pizza party on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
