STURBRIDGE — The special town meeting on Monday, Dec. 5 will include two separate meetings, the first focusing on the warrant articles for the postponed meeting from Nov. 21, and the second featuring two additional articles.

"The [second] meeting will convene immediately following the completion of the Nov. 7 special town meeting, which was continued to Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. due to the snowstorm and extended power outages," said Town Administrator Shaun Suhoski. "The meeting is required to fund the town's share of cleanup costs associated with the Oct. 29 nor'easter and to transfer funds from reserves into water and sewer debt service accounts."

The Board of Selectmen voted on Nov. 14 to place Article 64 on the warrant for the second meeting. This article will determine if voters support borrowing $510,000 for the purpose of paying for costs related to the Oct. 29 snowstorm. In addition, the board convened on Friday, Nov. 18 to discuss Article 65, which involves the potential transfer of funds to make debt service payments on water and sewer projects. There would no impact to the ratepayers, according to Suhoski, and this article will also appear on the warrant for the second meeting.
