STURBRIDGE — Ready or not, the holiday season is upon us. Residents are invited to take a quick break from their Christmas shopping on Friday, Nov. 25, as the Sturbridge Recreation Committee will present its annual tree lighting event on the Town Common at 6 p.m.

The event will include a visit from Santa Claus and members of the Sturbridge Fire Department. Refreshments will be served, and music will be provided by Hart and Harrington.

"This event was a lot of fun for families last year, and we invite residents to come out and be a part of it again," said Lynn Girouard, the town's recreation coordinator.

The event will also mark the official commencement of the second annual Winter Tree Scavenger Hunt. Presented by the Conservation Commission, the hunt will allow residents to search for decorated trees until Jan. 1 and take a photo in front of them for a chance to win prizes.
