CHARLTON — According to Paula Patruno, if you want to change your life, start with your morning coffee.

"People don't realize what they are putting in their bodies," she said, holding a printout of a Dunkin' Donuts nutritional facts sheet. "There are 800 calories in a Coffee Coolatta, and that's what people start their day with. That's without even having any food. If you want to lose weight, you can only have 500 more calories all day."

Patruno, a personal trainer who recently opened a new studio on Route 20 in Charlton, said it's simple lifestyle shifts, like replacing your coffee's creamer with skim milk (and skipping the Coolatta altogether) that can make a huge impact on your health, and ultimately, your life.

Just ask Sylvia Murphy, of Sturbridge. She began working with Patruno last year. By eating healthier and doing three training sessions per week at her home over the past year, Murphy has dropped more than 50 pounds and 30 inches. She sought out Patruno's services when she realized her life was on the wrong track.
