Frost looks to get acclimated to Charlton

'I'm quite excited at the chance to represent the town'

CHARLTON — Proposed maps outlining the state's new Senate and House districts that were released last month were voted into law last week by legislators, after a two-week wait for public comment.

There are changes for Charlton in the way the new districts are drawn, as it has grown from three to four precincts, shifting part of the town from the 6th Worcester district, represented by Peter Durant (R-Spencer) into the 7th Worcester district, represented by Paul Frost (R-Auburn).

The 6th Worcester district, which in old maps all of Charlton, and parts of East Brookfield and Oxford were in, is now comprised of Dudley, Southbridge, a part of Spencer and only a portion of Charlton. That remaining slice is now lumped with Millbury, Auburn, and part of Oxford in the 7th Worcester district.

"Being divided up, I understand that no community wants to see that," Frost said of the change for Charlton. "But I think that for this town, its really going to mean that it now has two advocates in the House."
