CHARLTON — After days of rain, the sun came out Friday, Oct. 7 for a memorial tree planting ceremony at Charlton Elementary School in honor of Francine Croteau.

It would have been the late teacher's 60th birthday.

Croteau was a kindergarten teacher at Charlton Elementary School for 21 years. She died in February from dermatomyositis, a rare muscle disease. Croteau is survived by her husband Randy, brother, son and daughter and three grandsons.

"She loved her family, her grandchildren. She loved vacationing at Disneyworld," Charlton Elementary School Principal Lori Pacheco said at the ceremony, where family, friends and colleagues of Croteau gathered on the playground of the school where she worked.
