Dog hearing held after chicken killings

October 06, 2011
CHARLTON — To Carol Emco, the rescued chickens that roamed her yard at 29 Pine Road were just as dear as any other pet.

So when a neighbor’s dogs killed all but one of the five birds, she felt she needed to bring the matter before the Board of Selectmen.

At a vicious dog hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 4, Emco and her family pleaded with selectmen to enforce strict confinement of Robert Wilson’s two Alaskan malamute dogs.

In the past six months the dogs have escaped from Wilson’s 54 Cranberry Meadow Road home on two occasions, both times charging through fencing and killing Emco’s pet chickens.
