CHARLTON — The Worcester County Motorcyclists' Survivors Fund will hold a motorcycle ride in memory of their treasurer, Charlton Assessor Deborah Ceccarini's late husband, Brian "Chic" Ceccarini, Saturday, Sept. 17.

The event will mark the third annual Chic's Ride, a motorcycle run that serves as a both a fundraiser and celebration of life.

A ride to remember Brian was initially Ceccarini's idea. After her husband of 34 years was killed in a motorcycle crash, Ceccarini was looking for a way to memorialize him through one of his favorite pastimes — motorcycling.

Brian had just recently returned to the road when the fatal accident occurred in 2007. For years he had suffered with hepatitis, and had received a liver transplant only 20 months before the crash. Unable to ride while he was sick, Deborah said Brian was thrilled to get the doctor's OK to get back on his bike.

"I find comfort that he was doing something he loved and not sick," Deborah said, holding back tears.
