STURBRIDGE — The Habitat for Humanity Metro West and Great Worcester (HFH MW/GW) division will sponsor two Women Build Days on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 at its 79 Fairview Park Road house.

The event is designed to give women hands-on experience in helping to build a home for a low-income family while raising money for the HFH MW/GW Tri-Community Build in Sturbridge. Women Build Days will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days, and all participants are required to get pledges for working a shift, with a minimum goal set for $100 per volunteer. A prize will be given to the participant who raises the most funds over the two-day event.

"We are really looking forward to this event, as it is a great way to bring the community together," said Harriet Lebow, the Executive Director of HFH MW/GW.

As of Wednesday there were limited slots still are available for each daily shift, which includes a morning work session from 9 a.m. to noon and an afternoon shift from 1 to 4 p.m. The Women Build program was established by Habitat for Humanity International to encourage women to participate in the construction of Habitat homes, and with Lowe's Home Improvement serving as the official Women Build sponsor, women crews have already helped build more than 800 Habitat homes in the United States and a dozen other countries.

Habitat for Humanity has three sponsors for its Sturbridge Women Build Days, including Austin Liquors, the Chamber of Central Mass South, and Sullivan and Company Real Estate. Lunch sponsors, which will each provide one meal, include the Cedar Street Grille Restaurant (May 21) and Rovezzi's Ristorante (May 22).
