STURBRIDGE — St. Michael's College senior Christen Perreault, of Sturbridge, won $5,000 for finishing in first place at the college's 12th annual Enterprise Competition.

Perreault, a business administration major, joined 26 other students in submitting sophisticated plans for running a hypothetical business. Students were asked to meticulously consider several details while preparing their plans, including starting and equipment costs for their businesses and projected yearly sales. Perreault's plan was for a gourmet café called Thinking Over, which would be located in Niantic, Conn.

"The best part of the first place finish has been the recognition from judges, faculty, and students alike," Perreault said. "A café rooted in good food and community relationships has been a lifelong dream. Seeing that dream leap closer to a reality has meant more then any monetary prize."

The 27 students who presented plans were narrowed to 12 finalists, and the top five were selected to make 30-minute presentations before a panel of judges on April 29. The three winners were chosen after the judges conferred, and determining the best three plans was very difficult due to the thoroughness of each one.
