STURBRIDGE — Amber Hillman and Brian Hrybyk successfully achieved their goals at the Boston Marathon Monday, April 18.

Not only did the Sturbridge natives both complete the marathon in 4 hours and 20 minutes — they also raised $10,000 for Children's Hospital Boston patients through previous fundraisers.

This year marked the fourth time Hrybyk has participated in the Boston Marathon, while Hillman enjoyed running her second marathon as part of the Miles for Miracles team. They were assigned patient partners a few years ago, and their partner is David St. Denis, a 6-year-old Sturbridge boy who suffers from a chromosomal disorder call DiGeorge Syndrome that often causes congenital heart disease. During every Boston Marathon, Hillman and Hrybyk see David and other children from Children's Hospital Boston cheering them on at mile 13 of the race.

"It was great to see David and the other children at mile 13," Hillman said. "That is always one of our favorite parts of the Boston Marathon, and we are proud of everything we were able to accomplish this year."
