STURBRIDGE — Former Holland resident Joel Crouse has achieved tremendous success since moving to Nashville to pursue a career in music.

The 18-year-old singer and guitarist recently flew back to Massachusetts for a brief stay, highlighted by an upcoming concert Saturday, April 23, at 8 p.m. at the Sturbridge Coffee House.

Crouse, who attended a preparatory school in East Longmeadow and spent his senior year at Tantasqua Regional High School, began his musical career by joining a band called Leaving Stafford when he was 15. Over the next few years he quickly developed his singing and guitar playing abilities, impressing many notable figures in the industry. For the past two years he has been working with renowned producer Jamie Houston, who has collaborated with such stars as Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Steven Tyler, Demi Lovato, Faith Hill and Carlos Santana.

"Jamie has been an absolutely huge influence in my life," Crouse said. "He is really smart and creative, and he always gives me great advice when I am recording. Living in Nashville has been such a great experience for me — it's a great music city with a small town feel."
