STURBRIDGE — The owners of the newest business in town, Bicycle Concepts, celebrated the store's grand opening Friday, April 8, by inviting members of the community inside for a tour.

The owners of Bicycle Concepts, Patrick McGarrah and Bob Carey, both of Sturbridge, decided to move the store from Southbridge to Sturbridge in order to gain more customers. McGarrah and Carey also own a store in Putnam, Conn.

"Sales were OK for us in Southbridge, but Sturbridge is a much better location for our store," McGarrah said. "It is located at the crossroads of the Mass Pike and Route 84, and we have already seen a tremendous increase in customers in our first week in business. Many of the people who have dropped in so far hadn't even heard of our Southbridge location."

In addition to selling bicycles made by three of the most popular companies (Trek, Specialized and Pinarello), Bicycle Concepts also sells such bicycling gear as helmets, bike seats, apparel and other supplies.

"Several of the major sporting goods stores don't offer clothing for bicyclists," added McGarrah. "We offer a wide assortment of clothes in all the popular colors."
