BRIMFIELD — With temperatures neither too cold nor hot, spring is the perfect time of year for a race.

The Brimfield Trail Committee will hold its third annual 5K Trail Race and One Mile Walk on Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m. at the trail head parking lot on Five Bridge Road.

Sponsored by Country Bank, proceeds from the event will allow the Brimfield Trail Committee to maintain and improve the town's trails, and event organizers are hoping for a solid turnout.

"We doubled our first race's participation numbers last year with about eighty runners and forty walkers," said Tony Bys, the Secretary of the Brimfield Trail Committee. "This year we hope to have even more people come out for a walk or run."

Participants will begin and end the race at the same location, as the looping course offers a mostly flat, gravel-based trail. The event will cost $15 for those who sign up on the day of the race and $10 for advanced registrants. A registration form is available online by visiting www.brimfieldtrail.org.
