SOUTHBRIDGE — The Jacob Edwards Library is saying goodbye to one of its finest.

Children's Librarian Karla Gartsu will leave the library this Friday, April 8, to a new position as school librarian at the Lt. Clayre P. Sullivan Elementary School in Holyoke.

Originally from Trumbull, Conn., she spent eight years at the library. A farewell party for her at the library will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

"I went to college in Worcester and just continued to work in this area," she said. "I worked for Worcester Youth Guidance Center, Community Healthlink and for three years I worked at Catholic Charities in Maine."

What directly linked her to the library field in this area was her time spent as a librarian at the Douglas Middle High School in East Douglas.
