STURBRIDGE — Incumbent Selectman Scott Garieri believes his experiences as a business owner gives him a unique perspective on the board, and he hopes to continue serving the community and helping to protect the interests of businesses for the next three years.

Garieri, who owns Sturbridge's Garieri Jewelers, is proud of the many accomplishments that have occurred in town during his tenure, including the renovation of Town Hall, the creation of the wastewater treatment plan, and the ongoing construction project at Burgess Elementary School. In addition, he has enjoyed using his position on the board to assist local business owners and foster a business friendly environment in town.

"I strongly feel the business community needs to be represented on the board, because most board members have never run a small business and do not realize the implications their decisions have," Garieri said.

Garieri has seen many developments in Sturbridge during the 50 years he has lived there, and he believes the town can experience further improvements that will provide long-term benefits if the proper decisions are made in the next three years. One area that has been the focus of many suggestions for improvement is the Route 15 corridor, and Garieri stressed the need to attract more businesses to this area during last Wednesday night's Board of Selectmen candidates' debate.
