SOUTHBRIDGE — State Sen. Richard T. Moore presented a certificate of recognition to the Southbridge Credit Union on Monday, March 28 for their efforts with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.

This past January, all four branches of the Southbridge Credit Union set up bins to receive donations of new and slightly used blankets for the area's needy and homeless.

"I actually first read about the drive in the Southbridge Evening News," said Moore with a smile. "I saw what [the bank] had done and thought it was definitely worthy of being recognized. It would be great if each community or each credit union do something along the same lines. It would really make an impact across the state."

The certificate is a Massachusetts Senate Resolutions acknowledgement, which "commended the staff and members of the Southbridge Credit Union on their outstanding efforts to end homelessness in the Commonwealth."

It also states that the Senate commends the staff and members of the Southbridge Credit Union for their leadership in the fight to end homelessness in South Central Massachusetts and expresses its support for their continued partnership with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.
