Busy week ahead for town officials

Seminar, debate, public hearing on tap

March 28, 2011
STURBRIDGE — It's going to be a busy week in town, and officials would like to remind residents about several upcoming opportunities to participate in important hearings and events.

The packed schedule will begin tonight, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. inside the second floor conference room at Town Hall, where the Sturbridge Planning Board will host an informational seminar about the various incentives that make solar energy more affordable for Massachusetts homeowners.

Sunlight Solar Energy representatives Dan Britton and Amy Levine will discuss state and federal incentives that reduce the cost of solar energy for homeowners, and they will also explain the average payback period for solar energy systems in Massachusetts. In addition, if residents bring their electric bills to the event, Britton and Levine will provide usage evaluations to help determine what type of system their houses might require.

The event is free to the public, and food and drinks will be provided. For more information, contact Town Planner Jean Bubon at 508-347-2508, or by e-mail at jbubon@town.sturbridge.ma.us.

The five candidates for Board of Selectmen positions will debate tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, and residents are encouraged to attend this free event and learn more about their backgrounds and views.
