SOUTHBRIDGE — Congressman Richard. E. Neal sat in with the "Eye on Southbridge" news show Monday night, March 21, at the Southbridge Hotel and Conference Center.

Neal answered questions from the news team, which included John Gatti, Larry Beinema, Scott Lazo and Mark Carron during the first half of the show and from both the team and town residents during the second half.

Beinema began the show asking Neal his take on the two largest news stories of the moment, the crisis in Libya and Japan. As Massachusetts politicians have been voicing their concerns as to what military action should be taken with Libya, Neal was quick to firmly state his stance on the subject.

"We have very strong allies in the Arab world," he strongly stated. "What's interesting about our incursion with Libya is that it has been sanctioned by the Arab League. I think the president has been correct in the extent that there will be no commitment with American ground troops. I don't think the United States should be fighting another Muslim country on the ground at this particular time, as we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan and that would not send the right message to the rest of the world. Our air capacity will be utilized and it is understood that NATO will take the lead."
