STURBRIDGE — Priscilla Gimas is vying for one of the three-year seats available on the Board of Selectmen, and she believes her background as an educator and member of the Sturbridge Finance Committee have prepared her well for a position on the board.

Gimas, who has lived in Sturbridge for 20 years, currently serves as an instructor of math and business at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester and Southbridge. Her career in academia spans 25 years, beginning as a teacher and eventually leading to positions as elementary school principal and high school assistant principal.

"During my career in education, I have achieved many milestones that speak to my leadership ability," Gimas said. "As an elementary school principal, I was presented the key to the City of Lowell for my accomplishments at the Hellenic American Academy and for the City of Lowell. In addition, I received a Massachusetts State Senate Official Citation for my work for the Academy, the students and the community."

Gimas' educational credentials include a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. In addition, she has authored several articles about the ethical expectations and preparations of school administrators, which were presented at multiple educational conferences.
